@THEEMILYJOHNSON

The theme I saw the most of this week was support - giving it, receiving it, being ok with asking for it, and accepting it even when it felt a bit uncomfortable.
.
Feeling supported is a crucial part of working for yourself. Because that’s just it. You’re working for yourself. And while it’s great to be able to support yourself, you can’t do it all on your own. You need to have people in your life that can validate you, talk you down, build you up, reassure you that what you’re doing is right, and remind you to drink water and breathe.
.
Challenge for the day: accept support when it’s offered to you. Maybe you can do it on your own but maybe it’ll feel nice not to have to.
Last week I witnessed the ups and downs of the early days of starting your own venture - both for myself and for the women I’m surrounded by who are also following their dreams and navigating unfamiliar terrain. I saw tears shed in the face of uncertainty, anger and frustration take hold when things didn’t go as planned, and got to feel joy when I realized I that I have enough on my plate to sustain myself for the next little while.
.
It’s certainly emotional, this whole working for yourself thing, and it’s exhausting in ways you don’t really think about before you get into it. But getting to do work you love beside people who are also doing work they love feels satisfying on a whole new level. ✨
Last night I decided to combine my two accounts and lean fully into Emily Johnson Unparalleled. Because I don’t want to filter. I don’t want a “personal account” and a “business account” an account for the “real me” and one for the “business me”. I want to own who I am 100% of the time and I want you to feel like you can do the same.
•
So, what can you expect here?
Well, I am going to be full spectrum me.
Is that even a thing? Who knows.
But it’s what I’m going to be.
•
I’m going to share everything
from design projects I’m working on
to coffees I drink
to photos I take
to walks with @queenmysticdog
to my photography
to musings about my heart
And anything else I deem share worthy.
•
When you get here you can expect the full Emily Johnson experience. Because from here on out I am committing to showing up as my unparalleled self, always, and I’m inviting you to do the same.
Right now: Sitting in my favourite spot on the floor, drinking my ho-cho-mo, listening to music and feeling all sorts of grateful for everything I experienced in 2018.
.
I hope that today, wherever you are you’re feeling loved and appreciated and are revelling in the magic of this final day of 2018. I hope you’re looking forward to the exciting uncertainty of tomorrow’s new beginning and that you grant yourself the freedom to feel however you may feel about the arrival of the new year. ✨
I’m part of a giveaway! Well, not me personally.. but a toque I made is! And there’s a bunch of other great things you can win too!

Tomorrow is December 1 which means it’s officially advent calendar time🤘🏼but this year I’m ditching the chocolate in favour of a self care calendar created by the one and only @christafontaine

It’s eco-friendly, 100% free and only available until midnight tonight. I’m going to be posting about it all month so unless you sign up tonight you’re prolly be pretty jealous. There’s a link in my profile so you don’t even have any excuses.
Happy Thursday! There is a helluh spontaneous (so spontaneous that I might even be late for work) blog post up today about my chest-bursting feelings and what I think my little heart might be trying to say to me. Scary? Yep. Cool? The coolest.
People of Victoria (and surrounding areas)! I have created the ultimate list of things to do this winter in our beautiful little city. There are markets, workshops and a bunch of free events happening between now and Christmas and I don’t want you to miss out on any of them! So if you’re looking for things to do, look no further my friends ✨
Another batch of slipper socks heading out the door!

I can’t believe how many people are interested in these guys this year! Last year I think I made a total of 4 pairs and 3 were gifts. This year I’ve already made 7 (maybe more?) pairs and have been asked to make a swack-ton more! So THANK YOU!
Coffee on the floor in the sun on day much drier than today 🌧
There’s a new TGIF post up on the blog and it’s got a link to a suuuuuper magnificent playlist in it so if you’re on the hunt for new tunes check✨it✨out✨
Other than my computer screen this is what I’ve seen the most of lately: coffee in one hand, a pen in the other, and thoughts pouring out of me faster than I can write them.

It took me three years to finish my little black journal. It’s filled with memories, stories, musings, and vulnerable little thoughts. It’s one of the most intimate peeks into my life and I’m so glad that I have a place where I can safely dump all my shiz.

Since moving back to the island I’ve written 28 pages. That’s a lot of writing, friends. There have been lots of shifts and changes and realizations and it’s been super overwhelming. Everyday it’s felt like I experience the full gamut of human emotions. But this morning I was writing while the new day was starting and I decided that today I’m just going to be grateful. I am going to welcome whatever feelings come, thank them, and carry on with my day.

I didn’t really know where this caption was going and it seems to have escalated rather quickly but, as per my last statement, I’m just gonna roll with it 🙃 happy Wednesday buddies!
There’s gotta be something about this time of year that makes feelings so much more intense and feeling-y. I felt my “happies” so deeply week and my “sads” so so hard and it felt like I was constantly going from one extreme to the next.
•
Anybody else feelin the feels this week? How are you managing it?
