This weekend I had the whole thing all to myself.  While I was definitely lonely at times, I thoroughly enjoyed the majority of it.  On Friday I spent most of the day in a funk, moping around the apartment feeling sorry for myself.  But on Saturday I turned my sh*t around decided to make the most of a beautiful weekend.  On Saturday I went on a solo adventure to Royal Roads, a graduate school, and drove around the beautiful campus, took pictures of the castle-like building and walked around as I plotted my next move.  While I was walking I noticed that it looked like there were cars driving though the ocean.  Intrigued, I pulled out my phone to see if there was a road out there in the middle of the ocean.  There was.  So, I got in my car, turned my happy music back on, and went to find the road in the ocean.  It was really quite cool to be in my car and surrounded by the ocean.  When I got to the end of the road I turned around and headed for home.

Sunday was Mother's Day.  It was the first Mother's Day in my life that I wasn't with my mom.  It was weird and a little sad.  But when I was home last weekend we had a day together and called it our own Mother's Day so I didn't feel like an awful daughter for not being with her.  Since the weather was absolutely gorgeous, I got on my bike and rode down to Beacon Hill Park.  It was so incredibly beautiful.  Families were everywhere and all the little kids were dressed so nicely, mamas had flowers, people were playing frisbee and bocce... It was like something out of a movie!  I walked around for a bit before claiming a tree to sit under to read my book.  I was there for a couple hours and in that time I made a little friend!  This squirrel was so brave!  He (or she, couldn't really tell..) would crawl down the tree, walk along my bike, come right up next to me and just sit there.  I gave it a little piece of my oat bar and it just sat there munching away and then crawled back up the tree where it frolicked in the branches.  It was a great way to spend my day.

Even though I was lonely at times, it was really nice to spend time by myself thinking about whatever and not having a schedule of any sorts.  I hope all of you had a wonderful weekend and gave your mamas lots of lovin!
